  • Brief history of the party: The Party was formally registered in 2003 in time for the general elections. Its aim was to rival the ruling Peoples Democratic Party for power. The party was largely seen as an Igbo party which has limited its spread over the years. Odumegwu Ojukwu ran for presidency under the party umbrella in 2003.
  • Highest position attained by the party: The party has produced several House of Representatives members and a few state governors

  • Party exploits in recent elections: The party has been able to provide 8 House of Representatives Members, four from Anambra, two from Benue, Two from Taraba and one from Abia. The governor of Anambra state Willie Obiano is also a member of the party
  • Party Structure: There shall be six (6) levels of Party Organization, namely:
    1. Diaspora
    2. Ward
    3. Local Government Area
    4. State
    5. Zonal
    6. National The Organizational Structure at the State level shall also apply in a similar manner to the Wards and Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as if it were a State.

    2. Each Executive Committee shall implement the policies of and shall be accountable and report to the Congress or Convention of its level.
    3. In all respects, Party hierarchy shall ascend correspondingly from the Ward to the National Level
    4. Each Executive Committee shall have a standing sub-committee to be known as the Working Committee whose composition and functions shall be as spelled out in this Constitution.
    5. The above principal organs shall have the power to set up standing and ad-hoc committees for their respective purposes.

  • How do I join the party: Conditions for Membership Membership of the Party shall be open to all Nigerians, irrespective of their religion, ethnic group, place of birth, gender, social and economic status, provided that:
    1. The person is at least 18 years of age.
    2. The person is not a member of another political party or if he/she was such a member, has resigned such membership and shall show evidence of his/her resignation.
    3. The person shall not be a serving Public Officer, a member of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Police, or a Traditional Ruler.
    4. Application for membership shall be on an individual basis.
    5. A prospective member shall register at the Ward he ordinarily resides in or his Ward of origin.
